HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- The Henrico County Crash Reconstruction Team continues to investigate a Thursday morning wreck that sent a bicyclist to the hospital with serious injuries.  A Henrico police cruiser hit the cyclist, according to investigators.

The cruiser and motorized bicycle collided at about 1:20 a.m. near the corner of West Broad Street and Dickens Road.  Police said both the officer and the man who was hit were traveling west in the far left lane.  The officer was not injured.

Investigators said they do not yet know how the wreck occurred, but said the officer involved was not on his way to a call at the time.

"Pretty crazy. I hope the man is alright," said David Perry, a local painter who came to a paint store near the scene while investigators were on scene Thursday afternoon.

Perry owns a motorcycle, and said after seeing the aftermath of the wreck, he plans on installing LED lights on his bike. Perry added he hopes everyone involved will be OK.

"Both of them, yeah. It's a bad situation to be in on either end." he said.

This is a developing story. Witnesses can send news tips and photos here.
