RICHMOND, Va. -- Another person involved in a shooting on the city's Southside showed up to the emergency room at Chippenham Hospital, according to Crime Insider sources.
Richmond Police confirmed officers found a man with a gunshot wound at apartments along the 2200 block of Afton Avenue just after 5:30 a.m. Tuesday. Initial reports indicated the man was shot in the stomach and rushed to the hospital in an ambulance.
The victim's injures are consider life-threatening, but his condition has not yet been released.
Crime Insider sources tell Jon Burkett another victim from the Afton Avenue shooting showed up at the Chippenham Hospital for treatment about three hours after the initial gunshots. A red Lexus with multiple bullet holes was seen parked at the ER entrance and then towed away.
Neighbors along Afton Avenue reported hearing a gunfight along with at least 10 gunshots. A nearby resident's security footage showed a four-door car speeding away from the scene.
The shooting was reported just blocks away from Oak Grove/Bellemeade Elementary School.
Richmond Public Schools did not return comment about how the situation might impact the start of the school day for students in the Bellemeade neighborhood.
Detectives have not released a motive nor a suspect description. Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
