RICHMOND, Va. -- Two adults were displaced after a fire broke out at a home in Richmond's Fulton Hill neighborhood Sunday morning.

Crews were dispatched to the 5500 block of Campbell Avenue around 11 a.m. for a house fire call.

Home fully engulfed in flames.

The sound of approaching fire trucks and crackling flames brought Larry Reynolds to his front yard as the backside of his neighbor’s house was completely engulfed in flames.

"We looked out and thought it was foggy until we actually saw what was going on,” he said.

Reynolds said he breathed a sigh of relief when he saw his neighbors had made it out of the home before the fire got out of control.

"Pieces of it were coming down from it," Reynolds said. "The wire burned in half, sparking."

The fire was marked under control in about an hour.

In his 21 years in the neighborhood, Reynolds said it is the worst house fire he has ever witnessed.

He said the family that lives here has been in the neighborhood just as long as him.

The Red Cross is helping out the homeowners, but Reynolds said he would also be there for his neighbors.

"I'm going to try to help them out as much as I can because I'm a neighbor and I know them well," he said.

Investigators said the cause of the fire, which started at the back of the home, remains under investigation.
