PETERSBURG, Va. -- One person was killed in a Tuesday morning house fire, according to Petersburg Fire officials.
The fire victim's name has not yet been released.
Fire crews were called to the home, along the 400 block of Byrne Street in Petersburg, at about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.
While it was initially believed no one was living in the home at the time of the fire, fire officials later confirmed they found a fire victim in the house.
The flames also damaged a neighboring home, also believed to be vacant.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
