Fire closes New Bridge Learning Center in Henrico

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- New Bridge Learning Center will be closed Thursday following an early-morning fire.

"All pre-school and Elementary Intervention classes at New Bridge Learning Center will be cancelled [Thursday]," a Henrico Schools spokesman advised. "Staff members will receive further instructions from their administrators about alternate working arrangements. Further updates will be shared later today."

Henrico firefighters responded to the school building fire shortly after 4 a.m.

The first units to arrived to the school, along the 5900 block of East Nine Mile Road, and saw smoke coming from the building.

Firefighters found a fire on the second floor and extinguished it with a combination of hose lines and the automatic sprinkler system installed in the facility.

No injuries were reported.

The Henrico Fire Marshal's office will conduct an investigation.
