PETERSBURG, Va. – Police have released the name of a man found shot to death in a Petersburg alleyway Wednesday evening.

Officers received a call for a man down in an alley between Terrace Avenue and Clayton Street around 4:10 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found 36-year-old Ryan Neal Glickman of Petersburg suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

Glickman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators spent part of Thursday morning scouring the alley for clues in search of any shred of evidence that could lead them to the shooter.

They did find a shell casing, but it is not yet clear if it is associated with the Glickman shooting.

“Glickman was shot at one location in the alleyway and it looks like he took off running and he collapsed after about 30 feet where we found him," said Lt. Greg Geist with Petersburg Police.

Geist is hoping someone saw Glickman Wednesday and can call so they can create a timeline.

“We need some information. What his day was, where he went, who he was staying with and what stores he went to...," Geist said.

Geist also said Glickman did not drive and walked to various hotels and stores in the area.

Two witnesses told WTVR CBS 6 News they heard four distinct gunshots Wednesday afternoon. One witnesses said when he got up to see what was going on he discovered the body and called police.
