RICHMOND, Va. -- The CBS 6 Month of Giving continues every day through December as CBS 6 team members surprise folks with random acts of kindness.

Virginia Rose lost her courageous battle with AML, a rare type of cancer of the blood and bone marrow, just a few days after Christmas. She was a month shy of her 5th birthday.

Before her death, Virginia Rose’s parents say giving presents to other children in the hospital helped brighten her day.

This year, as part of our CBS 6 gives, Tracy Sears wanted to give to The Virginia Rose Foundation, to help fill “Boxes of Love” for other children struggling with cancer.

This holiday season, hundreds of children across the country are opening boxes stuffed of toys, soft blankets, games and even gift cards. Most importantly, they’re receiving a gift of love from Virginia Rose.

The CBS 6 Month of Giving is possible due to a partnership with Union Bank and Trust.
