One person killed in Powhite crash

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- At least one person was killed in a car accident on the Powhite Parkway, according to Virginia State Police.

Around 4:45 a.m. Friday, a single vehicle crashed on Powhite south near the Courthhouse Road exit in Chesterfield County.

The car went off the road and ran in to a guard rail, investigators said.

At some point after the crash, the car caught fire.

Firefighters on scene were able to put out that fire. Crews reported one person died in the crash.

The identity of the person killed has not being released at this time as Virginia State Police work to notify the next of kin.
