RICHMOND, Va. – Last year, CBS 6 introduced you to Hero Among Us, Craig Dodson, a former professional cyclist turned cycling coach for Richmond’s at-risk youth.

Back in May, Dodson was named one of CNN’s Heroes of 2016 for his work in the Richmond community.

Now, there a just a few says left to make Dodson, CNN’s Hero of the Year.

After speaking to a group of Richmond students in 2005, Dodson was inspired to help and founded the Richmond Cycling Corps, a nonprofit that coaches cycling teams for at-risk children.

For Dodson, cycling is a way into their lives and a path out of the projects.

Dodson has already received a $10,000 cash prize from CNN, but he could win $100,000 more for his organization, if he's named CNN’s Hero of the Year.

Matt Crane, the director of development for the Richmond Cycling Corps, said the recognition by CNN is a huge honor.

"This is Richmond's own. This is an organization, one out of 10 worldwide that is being recognized this year by CNN and this is youth in Richmond, this is an organization based in Richmond, we're a very small non-profit,” he said.

You can still vote Dodson for the "CNN Hero of the Year" by voting online until midnight Tuesday, December 6.

The winner will be announced live during "CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute" on Sunday, December 11.
