Man killed in ‘revenge shooting’ near Petersburg convenience store

PETERSBURG, Va. -- A man has died after he was shot near a Petersburg convenience store Wednesday night.

Officers responded to the intersection of Harding and Mistletoe Streets, at about 8:10 p.m., for a reported shooting.

When police arrived, they located a man with gunshot wounds.

The man was transported to Southside Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

He was later pronounced dead.

The victim has been identified as 47-year-old Anthony A. Tucker, of Petersburg.

Crime insider sources said the shooting may be a revenge shooting for shots fired in the area earlier Wednesday.

Police are searching for evidence and speaking to all potential witnesses for more information into the shooting.
