RICHMOND, Va. – On “Giving Tuesday,” a day which marks the start of holiday and end-of-year giving to charitable organizations, Richmond Animal Care and Control (RACC) asked the community for help to save a neglected dog found in the city the day after Thanksgiving.

The emaciated dog, named Lexington or “Lex,” was found “nearly starved to death” on Nov. 25, near the intersection of Jennie Sher and East Richmond roads, RACC said on its Facebook page.

Within 12 hours, Lex was unable to stand and had multiple seizures. The dog was taken to an animal hospital in Carytown, where he received fluids and anti-seizure medication.

Lex is making progress, and will need a foster parent if he can recover, the organization said.

Anyone interested supporting the recovery of Lex the dog can do so by donating to the Richmond Animal Welfare Foundation, RACC said on Facebook.

The organization also said that they hope for tips about whom the dog may have belonged to, to aid in an animal cruelty investigation.
