Arrest made in Ginter Park murder

RICHMOND, Va. — Two men were arrested and charged in connection to an August murder in Richmond’s Ginter Park neighborhood.

Demontrell C. Hurdle, 30, of the 3900 block of Chamberlayne Avenue, was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Hurdle was arrested in September, according to police.

On November 23, police arrested Bernardo L. Jones Sr, 20, of the 3900 block of Chamberlayne Avenue.

Jones was charged with conspiracy to commit murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, according to police.

“Jones, who has been running from authorities since August, was apprehended last Wednesday by diligent First Precinct officers who took him into custody without incident,” Richmond Police Captain James Laino said. “Thanks to the dedication of investigators and officers and their unrelenting pursuit of justice, the individuals responsible for this homicide have been taken off the streets.”

Both men were charged in connection to the August 21 shooting death of Desmond L. Holmes.

Holmes, 32, of Henrico County, was found unresponsive in the parking lot of an apartment building along the 3900 block of Chamberlayne Avenue.
