PETERSBURG, Va. -- The man the FBI dubbed the "Soul Patch Bandit" will face a lengthy list of charges when he is expected to appear in court Monday.

Arthur Kharendzyuk is believed to be the serial bank robber arrested last week and linked to multiple bank robberies across Central Virginia and even the death of his young son.

Police said the 25-year-old was wanted in Newport News in connection to the October murder of his one-year-old son.

Police also believe Kharendzyuk committed five bank robberies between Oct. 18 and Nov. 14.

Kharendzyuk was arrested by Virginia Beach Police for trespassing and disorderly conduct on Nov. 19, but it wasn't until a short time later that authorities connected him to the murder and five bank robberies.

A week later, Petersburg police received a call about a suspicious man inside the Wells Fargo bank in the South Crater Square Shopping Center on South Crater Road.

When a detective arrived at the bank, Kharendzyuk was able to escape after a brief scuffle, but was soon tackled in the parking lot about 100 yards away.

The FBI dubbed Kharendzyuk the 'Soul Patch Bandit' because of his facial hair.

Additionally, WTVR CBS 6 discovered Kkharendzyuk's wife shot him during an argument while she was pregnant in February of 2015.

The couple were both in the Army at the time and living in Norfolk, but injuries forced him to be medically discharged.
