Person shot in the back in Hopewell

HOPEWELL, Va. — Police are investigating after a person was shot in the back early Saturday morning.

Officers responded to the 100 block of Booker Circle at approximately 2:48 a.m. after receiving information that a person had been shot. Upon arrival, they located a victim who had sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the upper back.

Emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the scene and the victim was transported to John Randolph Medical Center.

Police report that a black male wearing a black hoodie was seen fleeing the area.

The Criminal Investigations Unit continues to investigate the shooting and the Hopewell Police Department is asking anyone who may have witnessed it or may have been traveling in and around the area at the time of the incident to contact Lead Detective Mark Polumbo at (804) 541-2284.
