RICHMOND, Va. -- Hundreds of people packed Diversity Richmond Sunday night to talk about healing some of the wounds the conflict-ridden campaign season left behind.

Organizers asked a WTVR CBS 6 camera crew to stay outside to give people space.

Many in attendance said they were upset about the divisive and hurtful things President-elect Donald Trump said during the campaign.

Since it is obvious that many Americans think Trump is the change agent our politics need, we asked one of the organizers if and when Americans can find common ground.

"I can't really walk down the street with you if my leg is broken, right?  So I need to get myself a together a little bit, I need to build up my intestinal fortitude. To regain my sense of the world and what is right, and what is solid in family, my community and the people I care about,” Lacette Cross, pastor at New Beginnings Church, said. “And then be able to say, 'OK, I see where you're coming from.' "

Part of the reason for the event was to share information on community groups who have already been doing outreach work in Central Virginia before the election.
