Virginia man charged with biting off part of police officer’s ear

WAYNESBORO, Va. — A Virginia man faces a variety of charges after an incident in which he bit off part of a police officer’s ear, WHSV reported. Robert Mitchell Martin, 22, was in a car stopped by a Waynesboro Police officer Wednesday night.

When the officer told Martin to get out of the car, Martin ran, WHSV reported.

Police gave chase, and when an officer caught up, a violent struggle ensued, according to the report.

During the struggle, Martin bit off part of the officer’s ear.

The officer was treated at a hospital and later released.

Martin was charged with Felony Malicious Wounding of a Law Enforcemnt Officer, Felony Obstruction Of Justice, Felony Possession With Intent to Distribute Schedule I or II Drugs, Misdemeanor Resisting Arrest, and Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana 2nd Offense.

He was held at Middle River Regional Jail without bond, WHSV reported.
