Police identify people arrested on interstate while protesting Trump

RICHMOND, Va. – Twelve people were arrested during a protest of the president-elect that took place on the interstate.

At 11:39 p.m., Nov. 9, Virginia State Police said that approximately 100-150 protesters walked onto Interstate 195/Downtown Expressway and sat down in the travel lanes.

Police made multiple attempts to remove protesters about their need to disperse and leave the interstate, but the large group of individuals refused.

At approximately midnight, state police arrested 10 protesters and Richmond Police arrested two.

They were taken into custody without further incident and each charged with unlawful assembly and for being pedestrians on an interstate.

Police released their names:

  • Michael D. Stough Jr., 20
  • Madeline C. Lewis, 20
  • Sarah Jacqueline Camden, 25 (aka) Sawyer Jackson Camden
  • Madeline L. McElgunn, 19
  • Joseph Gerard Forcier, 20
  • Trevor A. Clarkson, 20
  • Briana M. Collazo, 26
  • Gregory Robinson, 22
  • Sofia R. Bugge, 23
  • Haley A. Reynolds, 22,
  • Tion D. Edmonds, 18,

Lewis was also charged with being in possession of a concealed weapon (flip-blade folding knife).

The remaining protesters promptly exited the travel lanes of I-195 and it was reopened to through traffic by 12:15 a.m. Thursday.

Protests have taken place throughout the nation after a surprising presidential win by Donald Trump on Nov. 8.
