RICHMOND, Va. -- Folks in Central Virginia are reacting to the news that Donald Trump will be the 45th President of the United States.
And there was no shortage of opinions about the topic at the City Diner on West Broad Street during the lunchtime rush Wednesday.
One Trump supporter said his vote was about the future.
"I think it's very important for the security of my grandkids that we have a Supreme Court that's balanced -- and it's just not," Richard Rizzo said.
But others were concerned about what might lie ahead.
"My biggest thing I didn't like about Donald Trump was his wanting to go back to a stop-and-frisk law, which I think is really wrong for people of color," Clinton supporter Stepen Jordan said.
Trump's victory dominated local Radio DJ, King Tut, on his show Wednesday with voters sounding off on their positions.
"We better like Trump now because we are going to have to put the pressure to him," an unidentified Clinton supporter said.
Another caller said he supported Trump for two reasons: repealing the Affordable Care Act and stopping illegal immigration.
"People seem hurt this morning. They seemed like it was the end of the world, but it's an election, it's a process. You vote your candidate wins, they win. If they don't, they don't," King Tut said.
Radio talk show host Jimmy Barrett told his listeners he voted for Trump.
"He said a lot of things that he shouldn't have said. But the end of the day, I ended up voting for him," said Jimmy Barrett, Newsradio 1140 WRVA.
Barrett said it is the first time he did so on the airwaves to his vast majority of Republican listeners.
"It's not normally what I do. I don't talk about who I vote for. I don't tell other people how to vote, but I felt like when you vote for a Presidential candidate in this important office, you need to take responsibility for what you do," Barrett said.
