Suspects screamed ‘purge’ and punched woman during robbery near VCU

RICHMOND, Va. — Police are investigating a robbery near VCU’s Monroe Park campus where the suspects yelled “purge” and punched a female victim in the face.

Investigators said the strong armed robbery happened in broad day light, around 12:15 p.m. on October 31.

They said they received a report of a robbery in an alley on the 1300 block of Broad Street, between Ryland and Lombardy streets.

Police said the victim delayed reporting the incident to police.

The female victim reported that she was walking through the alleyway toward Ryland Street when two people approached her from behind.

The suspects allegedly yelled “purge”, punched the woman in her face and kicked her after she fell. The then removed around $100 and an ID from the victim’s wallet and threw the wallet back at her.

They were last seen in the alley near where the incident occurred. The two suspects were described as wearing dark hoodies and silver-colored face masks.
