Oreo Fudge Cremes recalled over unlisted allergen

RICHMOND, Va. — Certain Oreo Fudge Cremes have been recalled because of milk, an allergen that is not listed on the ingredient label. These products are safe to consume for individuals who do not suffer from a milk allergy.

The recall included original and mint varieties; the following products are included in this recall:
• Oreo Fudge Cremes, 11.3 oz., UPC 4400002694 with Best By Dates of 19 AUG 16, 20 AUG 16, 14 SEP 16, 13 OCT 16, 14 OCT 16 and 17 OCT 16
• Oreo Fudge Cremes – Mint, 11.3 oz., UPC 4400002696 with Best By Dates of 20 AUG 16, 21 AUG 16, 14 SEP 16, 15 SEP 16, 16 SEP 16, 17 OCT 16, 18 OCT 16

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk may run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

Oreo posted on their Facebook page that the recall includes the U.S. Territories of Puerto Rico, St. Croix and St. Thomas.

Customers who have purchased these products should discard any unused portions and take them back to the place where they bought them for a refund.

Symptoms of food allergies typically appear from within a few minutes to two hours after a person has eaten the food to which he or she is allergic. Allergic reactions can include: hives; flushed skin or rash; tingling or itchy sensation in the mouth; face, tongue, or lip swelling; vomiting and/or diarrhea; abdominal cramps; coughing or wheezing; dizziness and/or lightheadedness; swelling of the throat and vocal cords; difficulty breathing; loss of consciousness.
