Lancaster woman fatally ejected after car runs off road, hits tree

LANCASTER COUNTY, Va. — A 25-year-old woman was killed when the car she was driving ran off the road and struck a tree early Sunday morning in Lancaster County.

State police said the single-vehicle wreck happened just after 1:30 a.m. on Route 201 (White Chapel Road) not far from , 8/10 mile north of Route 780 (Old Bethal Road).

Virginia State Police Trooper E. D. Haynie investigated the crash.

“A 2004 Acura MDX was traveling south on Route 201 when it ran off the road to the right striking a guardrail ,then back left striking an embankment going airborne overturning and striking a tree ejecting the driver,” Sgt. Steve Vick with Virginia State Police wrote in a news release.

The driver, Corinne A. Ludwig of Lancaster County, died at the scene. She was not wearing a seat belt.

Officials said speed and alcohol are being considered factors in the crash.
