Fleeing vehicle crashes into Petersburg grocery store

DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. -- A vehicle crashed into a Petersburg supermarket and the driver fled off on foot.

Dinwiddie County Sheriff’s were chasing a vehicle and the chase led into Petersburg, according to Capt. Braswell.

The car tried to make a right from Washington Street to Elm Street and ended up in Harrison’s Supermarket.

The driver fled on foot and officers followed in active pursuit. The suspect was caught a short time later.

Virginia State Police and Petersburg Police Department are assisting the Dinwiddie Sheriff's office.
