RICHMOND, Va. -- If you are looking for a family-friendly Halloween experience, plan on taking your little ghosts and goblins to the Canal Walk along the James River in downtown Richmond.

Venture Richmond will host free 30-minute canal tours on Saturday, October 29, from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. (the last boat leaves at 8:30 p.m.).

"The Eerie Canal Tours feature haunting tales of Richmond’s past as passengers travel down the historic Kanawha Canal, drifting through the spooky sights and sounds of Richmond’s oldest and most historically haunted districts," a Venture Richmond spokesperson said. "Then, on Halloween Day, Monday, October 31, Riverfront Canal Cruises will be open from Noon to 7 p.m. and all costumed passengers will ride for FREE!"

Boats leave from the Canal Turning Basin at 14th and Dock Streets in downtown Richmond.
