Shots fired during West End home invasion

RICHMOND, Va. -- Shots were fired during a Tuesday morning home invasion on Grove Avenue in the Richmond's Near West End, the homeowner told Richmond Police. No one was injured during the crime, police said.

Police were called to the home, at the corner of Grove and Antrim Avenues, at about 6:25 a.m. after the homeowner called police.

The person in the home told police she heard the sound of breaking glass, and found an unknown male inside when she went to check out the house.

The suspect fired shots at the resident but she was able to get away and call police.

The suspect, described as a black male with dark jeans and dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, fled the home. There were no injuries.

Detectives believe the home invasion was burglary attempt. Detectives, major crime investigators, and K9 units responded to the scene looking for evidence.

Police believed morning runners may have seen something and wanted witnesses to call Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
