HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- The woman shot multiple times by a Henrico Police officer during a traffic stop said there was no reason for the officer to open fire on her car. Officer Joel Greenway's trial began in Henrico on Monday morning.

Walking with the help of a cane, Kimberly McNeil took the stand and denied claims her boyfriend, who was driving the car she was in, drove off while Officer Greenway attempted to ask them questions.

Greenway fired seven shots into the car during the December 2015 traffic stop at a gas station on Nine Mile Road and Gordons Lane in eastern Henrico. McNeil was struck four times.

Greenway was later charged with malicious wounding, shooting into an occupied vehicle, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

During cross examination, Greenway's lawyers attempted to poke holes in McNeil's story.

While on the stand, McNeil admitted she had used crack cocaine for 20 years and was on drugs the night she was arrested.

Henrico Commonweath's Attorney Shannon Taylor is prosecuting the case. During her opening statement, she said ultimately it was Greenway's choice to open fire on the vehicle.

Greenway's trial is expected to last all week.
