CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — Chesterfield Police and school officials deemed a message found written in a Monacan High School bathroom was not a credible threat.

Images sent to CBS 6 showed the message, which stated “School Shooting” and Tuesday’s date.

The message was discovered on Monday.

“Police and school administrators investigated and no credible threat was found. The investigation continues,” a police spokesperson said. “Out of an abundance of caution, additional officers [were] on hand at the school [Tuesday] morning.

A spokesperson for Chesterfield Schools said police and the school’s administrative team were looking at security cameras positioned near the bathroom.

“At this point, police have determined there is no imminent threat,” a school spokesperson’s said. “The principal asked parents that if their child has information about the graffiti to please encourage them to talk to a school administrator.”
