RICHMOND, Va. — A community effort is underway to find Gabe, a missing 75-pound American Bull Dog. The white and brown dog escaped his handler near the Siegel Center on Broad Street, around 11 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15.

Gabe, who is very friendly to animals but also very people shy, has been spotted a couple of times since Sunday. According to the organization Gracie’s Guardians, Gabe was recently spotted around VCU, near where he went missing.

“The first spotting was walking from Harrison to the library and the back into the Fan on Grove,” the organization wrote on Facebook. “The second spotting he was walking towards Kroger on Lombardy crossing Broad at 2 a.m.”

Gabe is apparently still dragging his leash and wearing a red harness.

“He would not let either person approach him,” Gracie’s Guardians said. “We are hoping for more sightings.”

They ask if you spot Gabe to contact them immediately.

Call Lucie (703) 798-8554 or Tarra (810) 577-3792 with any sightings.

Another search party has been organized for 7 p.m., Oct. 18. The group will meet  at 7 p.m. at Harrison and Franklin in the VCU area.

“Bring dog treats and an extra leash if you have it,” organizers said on Facebook.

The organization previously organized a search and rescue on Monday night, that met at Bow Tie Cinemas. Some people participating brought dogs to help, because Gabe likes other animals.

If you spot Gabe, remember, don’t chase him!

There is a cash reward for his return.
