Virginia Tech may not want to see the Carrier Dome any more.  The Hokies lost at Syracuse 31-17 marking the 5th time that Tech lost at the Dome as a ranked team.  The loss also snapped the Hokies three game winning streak and gave them their first defeat in conference.

The Orange had 561 yards of total offense.  Quarterback Eric Dungey had 417 yards by himself and scored two touchdowns as Syracuse snapped a 12 game losing streak against teams in the AP top 25.

Virginia Tech quarterback Jerod Evans threw for a career high 307 yards but had two turnovers.

The Hokies will have a quick turnaround as they will host Miami Thursday night at Lane Stadium.

Meanwhile, the Virginia Cavaliers also suffered their first conference loss of the season 45-31 to Pittsburgh on UVA's homecoming.  The Panthers would score two td's in the final minute of the first half, including a Jordan Whitehead 58 yard pick six to lead 35-28 at Halftime after trailing by seven.

UVA's offense would never get back on track as they had just 15 yards of total offense in the 3rd quarter and quarterback Kurt Benkert pass for just 93 yards in the second half.

Virginia will host North Carolina Saturday at 3pm.
