WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — Popular amusement park Busch Gardens announced Saturday afternoon that the park was closing because of record attendance.

“At this time, Busch Gardens Williamsburg is closing due to capacity. We apologize for the inconvenience,” park officials posted on Facebook.

Susan Johnstone Moose posted in the thread she hoped officials would consider opening the park during the week for the popular Howl-O-Scream.

“This has been going on for years, that’s why we gave up our season tickets,” Moose wrote. “We were ticket holders and they told us we couldn’t get in.”

Sharon Graham Harper pointed out that Saturdays have always been the busiest night for Howl-O-Scream as Halloween nears.

“This is nothing new, go on Friday night or Sunday when it is less busy,” Sharon Graham Harper said. “Or go early on Saturday and stay all day, you have choices! Don’t get mad at Busch because they are busy and at capacity.”

The park, which is open during the fall Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., later updated on Facebook that it had reopened as of 8:20 p.m.

WTVR CBS 6 has reached out to Busch Gardens for comment.
