Virginia high school student arrested for bringing gun to school

STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. – A 17-year-old high school student has been arrested and charged after police say he brought a handgun inside of his Stafford County high school Friday Morning.

Investigators say the gun was found on a Colonial Forge High School student after they were searched for “suspicious activities.”

The search revealed a .40 caliber handgun which was concealed in the student’s backpack.

The teen has been charged with possession of a concealed weapon and possession of a firearm on school property. The student’s name has not been released because they are a minor.

Police are still investigating who the gun belongs to and how the student came to possess it.

The juvenile is currently being held at the Rappahannock Juvenile Center.
