RICHMOND, Va. -- A Richmond mother, who asked CBS 6 to hide her identity, says her family is shaken after a truck with “666” on the side struck her sons and kept going over the weekend.

"My sons could've lost their lives," said the Richmond mom Monday.

Richmond Police said the hit-and-run happened in Church Hill Saturday when two teens on bicycles were traveling down 25th Street and a pick-up truck turned left off Carrington and hit them, before fleeing the scene.

The mother says she’s scared because whoever hit her sons is still out there.

She wonders why the driver failed to stop and help in the first place, especially because police say he was driving a vehicle most people would recognize.

"I’m quite sure someone knows who drives a truck with ‘666’ on the side,” she said. “I mean, there are two sides to every story, but you just don't run kids over."

Door handle one of the teens ripped off the suspect’s truck.

Police confirm they are looking for the driver of a gold pick-up with Florida license plates and blue “666” spray-painted on the side. "If you see the vehicle, please let the Richmond Police know about it," she said.

Both teens were taken to VCU Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

While investigators searched the area for surveillance video, the boys’ mother clutched a door handle that one her sons had ripped off the suspect’s truck.  She is asking the suspect to do the right thing and turn himself in.

"If you know who this guy is, please have him come forward,” she pleaded. “My sons could've been seriously injured or even worse, killed."

It happened at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, in the pouring down rain, but police still think witnesses may have information that can help them.

Anyone with information about the hit-and-run was asked to call Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
