RICHMOND, Va. -- Rain chances will increase during Saturday as a cold front moves into the area and taps into some of the moisture being sent northward from Matthew. Rain will be heaviest later in the afternoon into the evening. Highs will be in the upper 60s and lower 70s.
Other local effects from Matthew will be some gusts over 30 mph at the coast in addition the potential for minor coastal flooding over the weekend.
Much of next week will be very nice, with mostly sunny skies and crisp fall temperatures.
Lows could reach the 40s for the first time in many locations on Wednesday morning. No significant storm systems are expected to impact the area next week.
Matthew is pushing northward along the coast of Florida and will move near the Georgia and South Carolina coast over the weekend.
A hard eastward turn of the storm is then likely, with a full offshore loop occurring through early next week. The impact to Virginia will be in the form of some heavy rain across Hampton Roads, and an increase in moisture along the front moving through the area Saturday.
