PETERSBURG, Va. -- On Friday, Petersburg Interim City Finance Director Curtis Finney announced he would resign the position.
Finney told CBS 6 Reporter Wayne Covil that he will resign effective October 21.
Finney has been with the city over four years. He spent the last six months in the interim position.
Irvin Carter Jr. previously held the post, but he was released in April by Interim City Manager Dironna Belton.
Sources told a CBS 6 reporter that Carter was fired without reason. He was hired in 2011 for the position and then three years later was also appointed as the Deputy City Manager. Carter held those roles until he was fired.
