HARTFORD — “Gilmore Girls” fans rejoiced on Wednesday morning as they got to eat at two Hartford restaurants that were transformed into looking like the show’s iconic “Luke’s” diner.

Recently, Netflix unveiled that they would be producing new episodes of the popular early 2000s TV show “Gilmore Girls.” To help with promoting the show, hundreds of fans in Hartford had the chance to sit in the show’s “set,” WFSB reported.

Metro Café on Farmington Avenue and Peter B’s Espresso on Summit Street were just two of the 250 Netflix-sponsored Luke’s diners in the country.

Western Massachusetts college student Ellison Hersch said it was a glistening opportunity.

Hersch and her friends packed into a zip car to visit the Metro Café.

“I grew up in a household of women with my mom and my sisters,” Aaron Eicoff, of West Hartford, said.

Eicoff said Wednesday’s visit to Luke’s was more of an obligation than an opportunity. He said he wanted to keep his girlfriend Katie Marone and her sister “happy.”

“That’s right, I got dragged out here,” Eicoff said. “It’s OK. I like coffee.”

“It’s a pretty central location lots of things happen, main characters are there,” Katie Marone, of West Hartford, said.

With the popular show’s quaint Connecticut setting and the chance to visit their own version of Luke’s, fans told Eyewitness News it was tough to pass up.

The four-part “Gilmore Girls” revival begins Nov. 25. There’s also a “Gilmore Girls” fan festival on Oct. 21 to 23 in Washington Depot.
