LOUISA COUNTY, Va. -- The Louisa High School teacher accused of sex crimes against a student at her school was denied bond in a Thursday court appearance. Amanda M. Nasser, 30, of Bumpass, was arrested late last month when the allegation first surfaced.

"It’s a very sensitive matter. We have made an arrest and it involved a juvenile," Louisa Sheriff's Office Major Donald Lowe told the Central Virginian. "It would be highly inappropriate for us to make any additional comment."

The alleged relationship between Nasser, a sign language interpreter, and the high school freshman took place off school grounds between September 18 and September 26, a sheriff's office spokesman told the Central Virginian.

Nasser, who was charged with two counts of solicitation of a minor and one count of indecent liberties of a student by someone in a supervisory capacity, is due back in court October 17.
