Elderly man injured after car goes airborne in Chesterfield crash

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — Police are investigating a single car accident is South Chesterfield that left a man with injuries after his car went air borne and flipped to its side.

Investigators said the accident happened in the 7900 block of River Road just before 5 p.m.

Witnesses said the car was traveling along River Rd. towards Ettrick when he hit a brick mail box, then went airborne and flipped multiple times, landing on its passenger side.

Police said the male victim is an elderly man.

Witnesses said the man looked to be OK, but shaken up after the crash.

The victim was sitting up and talking to investigators when CBS 6 reporter Jon Burkett arrived on scene. He was taken inside an ambulance for treatment on the scene.

There is no further information on his condition at this time.
