Portion of Hopkins Road closed after car smashes into power pole

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. – A portion of Hopkins Rd. in Chesterfield County is closed after a vehicle smashed into a pole Friday night.

Police said the single-vehicle accident happened around 11:20 p.m. in the 7200 Hopkins Rd. The driver and single occupant of the vehicle hit a power pole. They were uninjured in the crash.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, according to investigators.

The areas of Hopkins Road between McHoward Rd. and Okehampton Dr., are expected to be closed for several hours due to the crash.

A detour has been set up from Beulah to Salem Church to Kingsland Rd.

Police are warning residents to expect sporadic power outages while repairs are being made throughout the night and morning.
