Chesterfield man killed in Petersburg shooting

PETERSBURG, Va. --- Police are investigating after a man died from injuries he suffered in a shooting early Saturday morning.

Officers were called to the 4000 block of Nottoway Street off of East Wythe Street around 6:30 a.m. for a report of a person down. Upon arrival, they found 22-year-old Corby Powell of Chesterfield suffering from a gunshot wound.

He later succumbed to his injuries on scene.

Police are continuing to search for evidence and speak to all potential witnesses for more information on the shooting.
