RICHMOND, Va. -- Rachel May can be found routinely pruning her plants on the front porch in her Museum District neighborhood, but her peace of mind was disrupted this week.

And she has the video to prove it.

"I was angry,” May said. “I thought you know it's 3:30 in the morning...what are you doing?”

In the surveillance video, a woman can be seen helping herself to some items on the front porch.

"She picks a plant from over here,” May said. “Then, comes over to this corner and reaches down and gets another plant Looks in these windows. And then you can see her holding all of her goods in her hands.”

“And then walks back out,” May added.

Friday, a Richmond police officer documented the incident.

May posted the video on the Next Door app, the response was pretty surprising.

"In this one - my neighbor says someone stole a plant from her front porch. Another one posted the same thing,” said May.

May installed cameras around the home when she discovered her patio furniture went missing awhile ago.

"Eventually, I got fed up and thought you know if I want it to stop, maybe, I have to install some cameras,” said May.

And May posted surveillance pictures on her property in case a passerby sees the suspect.

"Maybe, folks walking the dogs in the neighborhood might help me,” said May.

Richmond police are asking the public to report any suspicious activity in your neighborhood by calling 646-5100.
