Multiple high school football games rescheduled over soggy fields

RICHMOND, Va. — Due to soggy field conditions, multiple varsity football games in Central Virginia have been postponed to Monday, October 3.

Rainfall over a 36 hour period was the highest total in the area since Hurricane Irene. Some areas had up to 8 inches of rain, with even more expected Friday.

Drier weather is expected over the weekend.

CHESTERFIELD

George Wythe at Manchester has been rescheduled to Monday at 7:30 p.m.

HENRICO

The game between Varina and Henrico, at Henrico, has been rescheduled to 6 p.m., as has John Marshall at Hermitage High.

FREDERICKSBURG/TAPPAHANNOCK

James Monroe at Essex has been rescheduled to Monday at 7 p.m.

RICHMOND

Midlothian at Huguenot High has been rescheduled to Monday at 6 p.m.

The Armstrong and Lee Davis game is moved to Lee Davis, with a Friday time still.

TRI-CITIES

Dinwiddie at Matoaca has been rescheduled to Monday at 7:30 p.m.

Hopewell at Petersburg has been rescheduled to Monday at 7:30 p.m.
