RICHMOND, Va. — An arrest was made in the recent sexual assaults which occurred at the MCV campus of Virginia Commonwealth. On Monday, Sept. 26, at 3:50 p.m., the VCU Police Department received two reports of sexual battery that occurred at approximately 3:45 p.m.
The first incident occurred in a first-floor restroom of the McGlothlin Medical Education Center, located at 1201 E. Marshall St. A woman reported that a man pushed her against the wall and attempted to unbutton her pants. She was able to push the man away and he left the restroom.
In the second incident, a woman was standing outside the Kontos Medical Sciences Building, located at 1217 E. Marshall St. A man hit her buttocks and fled north on Marshall Street.
Through investigation, police determined that there was actually only one suspect.
VCU Police released new, sharp images of the suspect on Thursday.
On Friday, VCU Police detectives announced they arrested Nyzia Baskerville, 23, of Henrico, in connection with these incidents.
He is charged with two counts of sexual battery, one count of abduction and one count of trespassing. Baskerville is not affiliated with the university and is being held without bond at the Richmond Justice Center.
A community member provided a tip to police that lead to the identification and apprehension of the suspect, police said.
