Chesterfield, VA - It's been since 1998 that the Monacan Chiefs have beaten L.C. Bird in varsity football, before most of the players on the field Friday night were even born. But this year's Chiefs aren't interested in past history, they are looking to make their own history and give the Skyhawks a rare 2nd home loss of the season.

Records: (6)Monacan (5-0) (4)L.C. Bird (3-1)

On Air: FoxSports 910 with Gary Hess and Gary Criswell. Pregame at 7pm, kickoff at 7:30

Last week: Monacan def. Huguenot 63-8  L.C. Bird def. Clover Hill 64-7

Inside the numbers: Monacan has the area's 2nd rated passer in Syour Fludd (185 ypg passing) and is off to a 5-0 start for the second straight season.

Korey Bridy (MON) leads the region in scoring with 18 touchdowns already. Skyhawks RB Shedrick McCall is third with 11 TDs and is 2nd in rushing yards with 659.

Quoteable: Jim Henderson, Monacan head coach: "I'm excited about the direction of our team right now. We do have a very good sense of school pride with our kids. There's a lot of support from inside the school so it would be great to give the students another big victory following the state championships last year from our boys and girls basketball teams."

Dave Bedwell, L.C. Bird head coach: "We preach to our kids all the time: we're everybody's Super Bowl. We want to be everyone's big game. We know they're (Monacan) going to be well prepared and ready to play. Sometimes you can learn more from a loss than a win. It's important to our kids, it's important to our school and it's important to our community. We were able to take a good look at ourselves and fix some problems. We'll see if it pans out Friday night against a good football team."
