HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- At least three Henrico County roads are closed in Henrico due to heavy overnight rain.
"The following roadways are experiencing closures or high water in eastern Henrico, which will affect the morning commute," Henrico Police Lt. Lauren Hummel said. "Citizens are encouraged to use caution during their travels this morning, as more areas continue to show areas of concern with the continued rain."
Road Closures:
Kingsland/Deep Bottom
Beulah/Portugee (near RR tracks)
Poplar Springs at the RR Tracks
High Water:
Darbytown/Strath
Elko/Portugee
Crumbled road, flooding causes 2-car crash
Henrico Police responded to a crash between a pickup truck and an SUV on Old Osborne Turnpike, near McCoul Street, around 1:30 a.m. Thursday.
The vehicles collided while trying to avoid debris and a portion of the road that was washed out, police said.
The crash forced Henrico Police to close Route 5 for hours while crews repaired the pavement.
The road reopened just before 5 a.m.
No one was injured in the crash.
Police also responded to reports of downed trees on Lauderdale Drive and Meadow Drive in Henrico County's West End.
