RICHMOND, Va. -- The man police are looking for in connection to a South Richmond shooting may be driving a 2001 Honda minivan.

Hugo J. Palma Iraheta, 22, of Richmond, is wanted on charges of attempted murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, according to Richmond Police.

"Shortly before 1 a.m. on September 18, officers responded to the 4600 block of Southwood Parkway for a report of a person shot. They arrived to find an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound lying on a sidewalk," a Richmond Police spokesman said. "He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries."

The shooting victim survived.

Police believe Palma Iraheta was involved in the shooting.

"Palma is described as a 22-year-old, white male, 5’6” tall, weighing approximately 220 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He may be driving a 2001 Honda minivan," police said. "He is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached."

You may recall the September 18 shooting because it resulted in a standoff at the Autumn Court apartment complex.

Police called in the SWAT team and surrounded a portion of the complex because they believed the shooting suspect(s) ran into an apartment there.

Officers were forced to wait for a search warrant.

When police returned hours later with the document they sent a robot into the apartment to search for the suspects but didn't find anyone, a search by the SWAT team turned up nothing as well.

Anyone with information about Palma Iraheta was asked to call Major Crimes Detective A. Sleem at 804-646-3871 or Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
