RICHMOND, Va. — A Richmond teen has been arrested in connection with an August shooting in Hillside Court.

The 16-year-old male was arrested Tuesday and charged with aggravated malicious wounding, robbery and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

The mid-day shooting happened just over an hour after Richmond Mayor Dwight Jones and Police Chief Alfred Durham addressed 2016 crime statistics.

Officers responded to the shooting in the 1800 block of Southlawn Avenue. Officers located the adult male victim, who suffered from a gunshot wound, on a nearby porch. He was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

“This shooting happened in broad daylight in a busy neighborhood,” said Major Crimes Detective Greg Russell. “Thanks to significant help from the community we were able to identify and apprehend this individual. We are continuing to gather information in this case and hope anyone with additional information about what happened that day will contact us.”
