ASHLAND, Va. — Police are warning residents to be cautious after receiving two reports of a suspicious man approaching young girls.

The first incident occurred Friday morning when it was reported that an adult male approached two juvenile females at a school bus stop and engaged them in conversation. While it was reported that the male did not say nor do anything inappropriate, he was not known to the girls and appeared suspicious.

The subject in this incident is described as a white male having gray hair, a gray beard and glasses and wearing a Carolina blue colored t-shirt, khaki shorts, tennis shoes and white socks.

The second incident happened Saturday afternoon when a man who fit that description approached a female and asked if she wanted to go to Kings Dominion. He was described as a white male in his 60s with a gray beard, wearing shorts and flip flops and driving a red four door car, possibly a Hyundai model.

Both incidents occurred in the Center and Maple Street corridors.

While no criminal or threatening activity has occurred, police are encouraging residents to be aware and alert for suspicious behavior and to report it immediately by calling 911. Anyone with information on the two incidents is asked to contact the Ashland Police Department at 804-365-6140.

This is a developing story.
