RICHMOND, Va. — U.S. Marshals are searching for a man who is wanted in the killing of a delivery truck driver during a botched robbery in Philadelphia on June 9, 2015.

Investigators say Rodney Shelton, 38, has personal ties to Virginia and tips regarding his whereabouts have come from the Norfolk, Newport News and Elizabeth City, NC.

Police are asking for the police’s help to locate Shelton, who allegedly shot and killed 63-year-old Thomas Childs during an attempted robbery at a loading dock just west of Philadelphia.

Prosecutors believe the 38-year-old from Elizabeth City got away with less than $20.

Investigators believe Shelton is armed and dangerous.

“Rodney Shelton’s blatant disregard for human life has made this case a top priority for us,” said U.S. Marshal David B. Webb of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. “Our deputy U.S. marshals and our federal, state and local law enforcement partners will leave no stone unturned until this dangerous fugitive faces justice.”

Investigators say Shelton may have fled the area soon after the crime, but he could be hiding in plain sight.

“Since he has been on the run for more than a year, he may have changed his appearance and his locale to stay under the radar,” said Webb. “He could be anywhere.”

Shelton is described as a black male who stands 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs approximately 170 pounds. He has brown eyes and brown hair and numerous tattoos on his head, neck and left hand.

They say he could even be working as a tattoo artist.

The Citizens Crime Commission in Philadelphia are offering up to $20,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case.

The U.S. Marshals Service is offering up to $1500 as a reward for information leading to his arrest.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the nearest office or the U.S. Marshals Service Communications Center at 1-800-336-0102, or email.usms.wanted@usdoj.gov.
