RICHMOND, Va. -- Students celebrated the grand opening of a physical therapy clinic they hope helps uninsured and under-insured people.

The Community Accessible Rehabilitative Exercises Services, or C.A.R.E.S Clinic, at VCU will provide free physical therapy care to uninsured and underinsured individuals in Richmond.

"The clinic is an opportunity to serve Richmond," VCU student Elizabeth Goodwin-Horn said.

Patients will work mostly with physical therapy students, but there will be a licensed physical therapy professional available during all scheduled appointments.

"So it's all run by students," VCU student Fallon Bormann said. "We get help from our professors when we need it, and of course there is a licensed physical therapist available during appointments, but it's student led."

The C.A.R.E.S Clinic is located on the second floor of the Center for Healthy Hearts at 1200 W. Cary Street.
