LYNCHBURG, Va. – The man who escaped from the Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Lynchburg and led investigators on a nearly 60 hour manhunt has been captured Wednesday evening.

James Richard Palvis, 22, was found in Lynchburg around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday. He was discovered between Concord Turnpike and the James River, according to WDBJ.

Monday morning, Palvis escaped from the Blue Ridge Regional Jail under a fence, according to Lynchburg Police.

Palvis has been charged with escaping, which is a Class 6 felony. According to Virginia Law, Class 6 felonies often imprison violators between 1 and 5 years.

Police didn’t specify why Palvis was initially incarcerated, but says he had been convicted of his charges. He is still awaiting sentencing for those charges.
