RICHMOND, Va. – In winter 2016, Richmond Animal Care and Control picked up an American Pit Bull Terrier on Lakeside Avenue.

That was 222 days ago and the handsome dog has been at the shelter since then.

He’s been named Superdog and is a two-year-old male, who weighs in at 65 pounds.

According to Christie Peters, Executive Director at RACC, Superdog is a certified snuggler.

In fact, snuggling is his favorite thing. He’s been moved into her office for extra snuggle time because let’s face it, 222 days is a long time at a shelter.

See, Superdog gets overlooked in the kennels when people are searching for their next pet.

“He’s very quiet and picky in the dogs he likes so hard to find a match sometimes,” Peters said.

Superdog really likes people, and if he gets along with a dog, it’s more than likely going to be a girl dog. He shows aggression with male dogs, Peters said.

He’s not cat-friendly, but he is kid-friendly, Peters added.

Superdog has gone out on runs through programs that help shelter dog.

One fan writes that “he is the fastest sprinter I’ve ever seen.”

To give Superdog a forever home costs a $100 adoption fee. He is neutered, heartworm negative, microchipped and has all required vaccines.

And if he may not be the perfect fit for you, perhaps he would be for a friend. Or perhaps one of the other 92 dogs at RACC could find a home with you.
